ABUJA. – Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), in the February 25, 2023 general election, Peter Obi has hailed Content Creator Pelumi Nubi – a Nigeria-British citizen who drove solo from United Kingdom (London) to Nigeria (Lagos) by road with her beloved purple Peugeot 107.
Peter Obi who took to his X account @PeterObi to extol the Nigerian spirit of the travel enthusiast, said that her very inspiring adventure has inspired many Nigerian youths, especially the female folk, to reach for the skies in the pursuit of their dreams and aspirations.
Precise Post recalls that Pelumi Nubi who embarked on solo driving journey from United Kingdom on January 31, 2024 arrived Lagos (Nigeria) on April 7, 2024.
The former governor of Anambra state who commended Pelumi’s courage stressed that her arduous solo journey by road, through different difficult borders, challenging terrains and daunting experiences did not hold her back from pressing forward towards her goal.
Obi who re-echoed that our dear nation is filled with millions of diversely talented youths whose lights will shine on the global community if we have good leadership that will provide an enabling environment, reiterated his commitment to building a New Nigeria that will give each of our youths to explore their individual talents, develop their skills and make impacts on the global stage.
He therefore joined other Nigerians in congratulating her for making the nation proud and welcoming her home.
Peter Obi’s congratulatory message reads:
“The story of @peluminubi_ , the young Nigerian lady and travel enthusiast, who took the bold step of travelling solo from London (United Kingdom) to Lagos (Nigeria) by road, is one that deeply resonates with the true Nigerian spirit of resilience, adventure, determination and hard work.
“Pelumi’s arduous solo journey by road, through different difficult borders, challenging terrains and daunting experiences did not hold her back from pressing forward towards her goal – a clear example of courage.
“Her very inspiring adventure which started on January 31st in London ended successfully on April 7 in Lagos. I join other Nigerians in congratulating her for making the nation proud and welcoming her home.
“She has, by this very symbolic act, inspired many Nigerian youths, especially the female folk, to reach for the skies in the pursuit of their dreams and aspirations. She has also reminded us of the endless possibilities of the human spirit, which believes in the beauty of their dreams and works hard to achieve them.

Precise Post further recalls that the 28-year-old travel content creator, Pelumi completed her solo road trip from London, United Kingdom, to Lagos on 7th April and was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by the Lagos State Government.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, announced her arrival via his X account on Sunday 7th April.
He said the Lagos State Government welcomed Nubi, a Nigerian-British citizen, who undertook the solo drive at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border.
He wrote, “Lagos State Government gives a hero’s welcome to peluminubi_ , a Nigeria-British citizen who who did a solo drive from London to Lagos.
“Pelumi was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of Lagos State Government by the Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka; and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe. Welcome home!”
