ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi yesterday continued his nationwide visits to vital sectors including health, education, and poverty alleviation, with a special focus on supporting rural communities.
During his visit to Mmiata, Anambra East Local Government in Anambra State, Obi toured one of the critical healthcare facilities managed by the Immaculate Heart Sisters under the IHM Health System. The facility, which serves as the only hospital in the area, provides essential healthcare services to the remote community of Mmiata-Anam.
The IHM Health System has been a key partner in Obi’s commitment to improving healthcare access, especially in underserved regions. Last year, Obi, alongside Prof. Ozuah, contributed a generous N75 million donation to the IHM’s Specialist Hospital in Nkpor. To further support their efforts, Obi and Prof. Ozuah have now donated an additional N25 million to help expand and improve healthcare delivery in rural areas like Mmiata.
Reflecting on his long-standing commitment to investing in critical sectors, Obi emphasized the importance of supporting healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation as foundational pillars for national development. “Through support for small businesses and humanitarian gestures, we can pave the way for sustained growth and a healthier, more productive nation,” Obi said.
He also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the proprietor, management, and staff of the healthcare facility for their dedication and tireless work in improving the health services available to impoverished communities.
Obi concluded with a hopeful message for the future: “A New Nigeria is possible if we work towards it.”
