ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –   A fresh wave of political realignments may be underway as former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, announced the defection of key political figures into the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), signaling a potential boost for the party’s national reach.
Dickson, who took to his X handle on Saturday, disclosed that Comrade Babatunde F. Alli, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has officially joined the NDC alongside a large number of his supporters drawn from across the country.
Alli, described as a veteran political activist and protégé of the late Balarabe Musa, spent over two decades in the PRP, where he served twice as National Secretary and later rose to Deputy National Chairman before resigning his membership.
In a swift move, the leadership of the NDC, led by its National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, confirmed Alli as the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), pending ratification at the party’s congress.
The party also welcomed Prof. Mohammed Sani Yahaya and former Permanent Secretary, Musa Istiphanus, who joined from Taraba State alongside several political stakeholders. Dickson directed the new entrants to collaborate with state party executives to strengthen the NDC’s structure in the region.
In Edo State, former lawmaker and ex-member of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, also defected to the party, further expanding its growing political base.
Dickson expressed appreciation to the defectors for aligning with the NDC’s vision, urging them to deploy their experience and networks toward building what he described as a credible alternative capable of delivering better leadership for Nigerians.
The latest defections underscore intensifying political movements ahead of future elections, as parties continue to reposition and consolidate influence nationwide.
