ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has expressed strong confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will dominate the 2027 general elections in Abia State, predicting victory in the governorship as well as a sweep of legislative seats.
According to the statement made by Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, made available to Precise Post on Sunday, Kalu made the declaration on Saturday in Abuja after APC stakeholders from Abia State purchased and presented him with Expression of Interest and Governorship Nomination Forms, urging him to contest the state’s top office.
Responding, the Deputy Speaker assured party faithful that the APC would secure a comprehensive victory across all levels in the state.
“I want to thank you for bringing this form and assure you that the story must change in Abia State,” Kalu said. “We will not allow this dream to die. We will fight till the end. We will win the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, sweep the Senate seats, and win the governorship.”
Kalu also emphasized that delivering Abia State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election remains his top priority, describing the president as a reformer whose achievements must be supported by the South-East.
“The most important thing for me is to ensure that our people stand solidly behind him. Every other thing is secondary,” he added.
Earlier, stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of Abia—North, Central, and South—praised Kalu’s leadership and legislative performance, insisting he is best positioned to lead the party to victory in the state.
Speaking on behalf of Abia North, Chief James Uko Igwe, SAN, described Kalu as a statesman whose national impact should now be replicated at the state level. He noted that the decision to procure the nomination forms was driven by Kalu’s track record of service and development.
Also speaking, retired Major General Jack Nwaogbu, representing Abia Central, credited Kalu with revitalizing the APC in the state, citing renewed unity and grassroots engagement within the party.
For Abia South, former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike, said Kalu’s achievements in empowerment, employment generation, and political mobilization make him the ideal candidate to lead the APC into the 2027 elections.
Azubuike further stressed the need for strong leadership to boost the party’s electoral fortunes in the South-East and secure substantial votes for President Tinubu.
The stakeholders collectively urged Kalu to accept their appeal and contest the governorship, expressing confidence that his candidacy would reposition the APC and deliver victory in Abia State.
