A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Mohammed Bello, has formally announced his resignation from the ruling party.
Bello, a former senatorial aspirant for Yobe North (Zone A) under the APC platform, made his exit public alongside a significant number of his supporters, marking a major political shift in the state.
In a resignation letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Gwange, located in Damaturu metropolis, Bello described his decision as a step towards “freedom from political bondage.” He emphasized that the decision takes effect immediately and is in the best interest of both himself and his constituency.
While expressing appreciation for the opportunities afforded to him during his time with the APC, Bello acknowledged the valuable relationships and experiences he gained within the party. He also enclosed his membership card with the resignation letter as a formal conclusion to his affiliation.
The letter reads in part:
“I am writing to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect. This decision was not made lightly; it follows considerable reflection on my personal values and the current direction of the party. After much deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that stepping away at this time is in the best interest of both myself and my community.”
Bello’s resignation has sparked political discourse in Yobe, with observers speculating on his next political move.
