ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 general election, Peter Obi has mourned the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduagjan describing him as a dear elder brother and recalling their joint efforts to secure the contract for the Second Niger Bridge.
Obi, in a condolence message posted on his X handle on Tuesday, said he was deeply saddened by the death of the former governor, who, according to him, treated him like a junior brother during their interactions.
“Goodbye, Uduaghan,” the former Anambra State governor wrote, expressing grief over the loss of a man with whom he shared a cordial working relationship during their time in public service.
Obi recalled their collaboration in advocating for the award of the contract for the Second Niger Bridge, which he described as a critical infrastructure project for national integration, commerce and the development of the South-East and South-South regions.
According to him, both men worked together as brothers in the collective effort to ensure the project became a reality.
“I am pleased that the effort ultimately succeeded and that the Second Niger Bridge became a reality, serving as a symbol of the importance of collaboration in the pursuit of national development,” Obi said.
The former Anambra governor noted that Uduaghan’s death was a significant loss not only to his immediate family and the people of Delta State but also to the country at large.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Delta State Government and the people of the state, praying that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort all those mourning him.
