In an emotional moment that captured the hearts of football fans nationwide, Remo Stars Sports Club owner, Honourable Kunle Soname, surprised the club’s standout player, Olamilekan Adedayo, with a brand new SUV worth ₦30 million.
The gift came after Adedayo’s instrumental role in helping Remo Stars secure their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title during the 2024/25 season.
Historic triumph for Remo Stars
Founded in 2010, Remo Stars made history by becoming:
✅ The first privately owned club to win the NPFL title since Ocean Boys in 2006.
✅ The first Ogun State club to clinch the league title since its creation in 1976.
✅ The first South West club to win the title since Julius Berger FC in 2000.
Adedayo, an attacking midfielder, scored seven goals and provided an assist in 32 appearances, including the decisive goal against Niger Tornadoes that sealed the championship.
Emotional celebration and generous rewards
Fans voted Adedayo as Remo Stars’ Player of the Season, leading to the grand gesture by club president Soname. Overcome with emotion, Adedayo was seen wiping tears as he received the keys to his new SUV.
Beyond the individual award, Soname also announced:
₦25 million cash reward for the men’s team for winning the NPFL title.
₦10 million for the women’s team for finishing in the top four.
₦5 million for the club’s academy, Beyond Limits, for winning the Gothia Cup in Sweden.
