Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly denied speculation suggesting he is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Recent reports had fueled rumours of an impending political realignment, with claims that Governor Adeleke was in talks with ADC leaders to form a strategic alliance. However, in a statement released on Friday, Adeleke’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, categorically dismissed the claims, reaffirming the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the PDP.
“We have received several media enquiries and reports suggesting Governor Adeleke is considering a defection to the ADC or aligning with key figures in the party ahead of the 2026 elections. These claims are entirely unfounded,” the statement clarified.
Highlighting the political direction of the Osun PDP, Rasheed emphasized: “Our party has already endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. There is absolutely no alliance or political arrangement with the ADC.”
He continued: “Governor Adeleke remains a dedicated member of the PDP. He will contest the 2026 election under the PDP banner and is on course for a decisive victory without the need for any coalition.”
The statement credited Adeleke’s sustained popularity to his performance in office: “The Governor continues to enjoy strong grassroots support due to his achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and workers’ welfare. Osun people recognize good governance and are ready to renew his mandate in 2026.”
Governor Adeleke also encouraged party faithful to focus on internal consolidation: “We call on all PDP members to intensify efforts in strengthening party structures at all levels in preparation for another resounding victory next year.”
