Associate Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Tolu Odukoya, has publicly confirmed the end of her marriage, sparking widespread reactions across social media.
In a candid conversation on Truthtable, Pastor Tolu, who is also the sister of actor and clergyman Jimmy Odukoya, revealed that she and her ex-husband have been separated since 2021.
According to her, the decision was due to circumstances beyond her control. She explained that the breakdown of her marriage, along with several personal tragedies, had deeply shaped her life over the last decade.
“I’ll say I’m separated. Most of you don’t know I’m separated, and that has defined my life in many ways. It was beyond my control. When you go into marriage, you don’t do so expecting to leave. But when a marriage ends, it feels like a death. In the past ten years, I’ve faced the death of my marriage, my stepmother, my dad’s twin sister, and my father,” she shared.
She further praised her ex-husband, describing him as a “great man,” but added that sometimes even love cannot sustain a marriage if it is not ordained by God.
“My ex-husband is a great man, but if God doesn’t ordain two people to be together, forcing it only reduces the chances of lasting happiness,” she said.
Reflecting on her life journey, Pastor Tolu admitted that her story hasn’t gone the way she envisioned, but she remains committed to walking in faith.
Her revelation quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. While some social media users sympathized with her pain and praised her strength, others expressed fears about marriage, noting the irony of the daughter of renowned marriage counselor, late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, going through separation.

Pastor Tolu is the daughter of Late Pastors Taiwo and Bimbo Odukoya, the co-founders of The Fountain of Life Church in Lagos. Her late mother, Bimbo Odukoya, was a celebrated relationship counselor before her untimely death in the 2005 Sosoliso plane crash.
