ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has reinforced the critical role of private sector participation in shaping Nigeria’s policy direction, following a high-level engagement with Rohan D’Souza, Vice President, Gas & Commercial at Shell Exploration & Production Africa.
The meeting, held on April 29, 2026, formed part of NESG’s ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between the public and private sectors, with a focus on ensuring that economic reforms are practical, implementable, and impactful.
The statement released on the official X hande of NESG said that both parties expressed a shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s reform agenda, improving the investment climate, and driving sustainable economic growth through coordinated action. Key discussions centred on strengthening fiscal policy, ensuring regulatory certainty, and mobilising long-term foreign direct investment (FDI) into the economy.
Shell reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to Nigeria, highlighting its ongoing investments and stressing the importance of stable and predictable policies in sustaining capital inflows. The company also reiterated its belief in Nigeria’s economic potential, particularly within the energy sector.
The NESG and Shell emphasised the need to leverage the energy sector as a catalyst for industrialisation and inclusive growth, while strengthening reform outcomes across the broader economy.
As a longstanding partner of the Nigerian Economic Summit, Shell’s continued engagement reflects its role in supporting policy development and reform advocacy in the country.
The latest meeting underscores NESG’s strategic focus on building actionable partnerships aimed at unlocking investment, driving reforms, and enhancing Nigeria’s economic competitiveness.
Precise Post recalls that the NESG delegation to the meeting included Dr. Olusegun Omisakin, Chief Economist and Director of Research and Development; Mrs. Ogechi Obiorah, Head of Corporate Affairs and Stakeholder Management; and other senior officials of the organisation.
