ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Erstwhile Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Saturday led a delegation on a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the passing of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
Tambuwal, in a solemn message released on his X handle @AWTambuwal, said he and his team visited El-Rufai and his family to express heartfelt sympathy and stand in solidarity with them during what he described as a deeply painful and irreplaceable loss.
“The loss of a mother is profoundly personal,” Tambuwal noted, emphasizing the emotional weight of such a bereavement and the need for collective support in moments of grief.
He conveyed his condolences to the entire El-Rufai family, acknowledging the late matriarch’s enduring influence and the void her passing has created. The former Speaker stressed that the thoughts and prayers of his delegation were with the family as they navigate the difficult period of mourning.
Tambuwal also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
Tambuwal further prayed for strength, patience, and comfort for the bereaved family. He added that the life and legacy of the late Hajiya Umma El-Rufai would continue to inspire all who knew her, urging the family to take solace in the impact she made during her lifetime.
Precise Post recalls that the condolence visit underscores the longstanding political and personal ties between Tambuwal and El-Rufai, as well as a broader culture of solidarity among Nigeria’s political leaders in times of personal loss.
Further recall that El-Rufai was temporarily released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Friday night following the news of the death of his mother in Egypt. The development was disclosed on Friday by his son, Bashir El-Rufai, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he confirmed that his father had been freed from detention.
