ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after securing 10,999,162 votes in the party’s nationwide presidential primary.
The result was announced on Sunday at the International Conference Centre in Abuja by the Chairman of the APC Presidential Election Committee, Anyim Pius Anyim, who said the exercise complied with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Electoral Act and the APC constitution.

Disclosing this on his X handle,  Bayo Onanuga, the
Special Adviser to the President, said that Tinubu received his certificate of return and the party’s symbolic flag from APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, before party leaders, governors, lawmakers, ministers and other stakeholders.
Speaking after accepting the nomination, the president pledged to consolidate ongoing economic reforms and deepen national development if re-elected.
“In accepting this nomination, I renew my commitment to serve our nation with even greater determination,” Tinubu said.
“With another four years of disciplined focus and national cooperation, we will firmly place Nigeria on an irreversible path of economic expansion, industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure development, food sufficiency, and democratic consolidation.”
According to Anyim, voting took place across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, covering 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
He disclosed that 12,643,316 party members were registered for the exercise, while 11,069,746 members were accredited and 11,015,665 votes were cast.
Tinubu’s only challenger, Stanley Osifo, polled 16,503 votes.
Anyim described the process as transparent and credible, noting that agents of both aspirants were given the opportunity to challenge results and seek redress where necessary.
The president thanked APC governors, members of the National Assembly, the party’s National Executive Committee, National Working Committee and supporters for entrusting him with the party’s ticket for next year’s election.
Tinubu also urged party members to campaign on the achievements of the APC-led administration since 2015, particularly reforms implemented over the last three years.
“Our economy has undergone significant structural reform, supported by new tax laws and fiscal policies that have boosted revenue collection for the federation,” he said.
He added that his administration had fulfilled its promise to improve access to higher education through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, revealing that over N282 billion had been disbursed to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries.
