ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged its presidential aspirants, party leaders, delegates and members nationwide to embrace unity, discipline and peaceful conduct ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Monday.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the primaries as a defining moment for both the ADC and Nigerians seeking a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Abdullahi, the ADC remains committed to internal democracy and transparent leadership, insisting that the conduct of the exercise would reflect the party’s core values.
He stated that the ADC prides itself as “the only truly democratic party in Nigeria,” noting that its presidential candidate would emerge through an open and transparent primary process.
The party called on all aspirants, their supporters and delegates to conduct themselves responsibly and peacefully throughout the exercise, stressing that the process must demonstrate transparency, national unity and respect for the rule of law.
Abdullahi noted that while disagreements and contests were natural in democratic processes, members must remain focused on the broader objective of rebuilding Nigeria and restoring public confidence in leadership.
He stressed that there would be no winners or losers within the ADC family after the primaries, adding that the goal was for the party to emerge stronger and more united ahead of the 2027 elections.
The spokesman also assured party members that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure a free, fair, credible and transparent primary election.
He added that history would judge the party not only by the eventual candidate produced, but also by the manner in which the exercise was conducted.
