ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Federal lawmaker representing Benue South Senatorial District in the red chember and former minister of Interior, Sen Abba Moro has said that President Bola Tinubu is poised to carry development to the grassroot by signing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) into law.
Precise Post recalls that earlier during plenary on Tuesday, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio announced that President Tinubu has signed into law the Agric Research Council of Nigeria as well as the North Central Development Commission. Both Bills were sponsored by Sen Abba Moro.
Speaking with Journalists in his office, Senator Moro expressed his profound gratitude to the President for signing the bill into law.
The Senate Minority Leader, who was visibly excited over the development stated, “I’m grateful to Mr President. I’m grateful to the 10th Senate under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio and I’m grateful to everybody that has made it possible for today to come through”.
He explained that the President’s assent to the bill was in line with his desire to take development to the grassroots.
“We want development to spread across Nigeria. We want people to participate in the development of their areas in terms of infrastructures, establishments and everything that can make life meaningful to the people. That’s why I sponsored the bill and that’s why my colleagues from North Central and Nigeria supported it. And that’s why Mr President has assented to the bill”.
Senator Moro said the Commission will focus on the development of the region, lamenting that the North Central zone has been consumed by insecurity and devastated by the activities of herdsmen and farmers clashes.
The lawmaker stated that insecurity and ceaseless vices have left devastating effects on the zone with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) littered all over the region.
He said returning the IDPs to their ancestral homes and making life more meaningful to them is what the NCDC is all about.
“I can assure you that NCDC will definitely make a difference because we are committed to the people”, he added.
Similarly, Abba Moro also urged the President to accede to their desire that the leadership of the Federal College of Agriculture & Technology in Obianuwaojiakpo will be constituted within the minimum delay so that, in line with their excitement, the implementation of the bill will be carried out and they would have the College of Agricultire and Technology that will train technologists in agriculture that will foster and enhance the capacity of the federal government to ensure food security.
