KAMPALA, Uganda (PRECISE POST) — The Ugandan government has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting high-end tourism as a landmark five-star Marriott-branded hotel in Kampala edges closer to completion.
The luxury twin-tower property, located along Ggaba Road in Nsambya, is set to open its doors to the public soon, marking a major addition to Uganda’s hospitality sector and a significant step in the country’s drive to attract affluent international travellers, the report released Sunday on the official X handle of Uganda’s Ministry of Finance @mofpedU said.
A delegation from the Ministry of Finance, led by Director of Economic Affairs Moses Kaggwa and Commissioner for Tax Policy John Byahuranga, toured the facility on Tuesday to assess the progress of the project.
The officials were received by the Chairman of the property and founder of Capital Shoppers, Mr. Ponsiano Ngabirano, who personally guided the delegation through the expansive development.
Speaking after the inspection, Kaggwa described the hotel as one of the strategic investments being supported by the government under its tourism development agenda.

“This is one of the projects that government is supporting,” he said, expressing satisfaction with the level of progress achieved so far.
Kaggwa noted that promoting internationally branded five-star hotels forms part of Uganda’s broader strategy to attract high-net-worth tourists and strengthen the country’s tourism industry.
“Part of government policy is to support branded five-star international-standard hotels to attract ultra-rich tourists,” he said. “Tourism is one of the anchor sectors under the ATMS framework, and government is targeting to double tourist arrivals as well as double tourism earnings.”
Beyond its luxury hotel offerings, the development also features executive apartments designed to provide premium accommodation for elite clientele and long-stay guests.
The property is currently under the management supervision of Marriott International, with teams already on-site carrying out final preparations ahead of its official launch.
Precise Post recalls that once completed, the hotel is expected to rank among the most prestigious hospitality destinations in East Africa, further positioning Uganda as a competitive destination for luxury tourism and international investment.
