ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former presidential aide and ex-NDDC Chairman, Lauretta Onochie, has dazed a bloody nose attack to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, declaring that his political influence is finished and that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has effectively taken over his political structure.
In a strongly worded tweet posted on her X handle account on Sunday, Onochie accused President Bola Tinubu and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, of abandoning Wike at a critical moment, insisting that the reins of power in Rivers State have now been firmly handed to Governor Fubara.
“You have been buried politically already,” Onochie wrote, alleging that Wike’s former allies had not only distanced themselves from him but had also empowered Fubara to chart his own political course. Using a metaphor, she said the “keys of the bus” had been handed to the Rivers governor, adding that how Fubara drives it would depend on “how much of your pride you can swallow.”
Onochie went further to outline what she described as an inevitable political sequence that would favour Fubara and further sideline Wike. According to her, the Rivers governor may regain the six months of tenure she claimed were “stolen” from him, secure a second term in office, and ultimately influence who succeeds him before the end of 2026.
“Fubara will nominate your replacement before the end of 2026,” she asserted, stressing that the governor now holds decisive power over Rivers State’s political future.
In a final jab, Onochie declared a complete reversal of roles between the former allies, insisting that Wike must now accept Governor Fubara as his political superior.
“Fubara is your new godfather,” she wrote mockingly, urging Wike to repeat the phrase: ‘Fubara is my new godfather.’
Precise Post recalls that the remarks come amid the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, which has exposed deep fractures between Wike and his successor, Governor Fubara, and continues to reshape power dynamics within the state and the ruling political establishment.
