ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –   Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, has commended the massive turnout of supporters at the inauguration of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) 2.0 national structure and state chapters’ executive committees in Kano.

Barau, who disclosed this in a post on his official X handle on Saturday, described the event as a landmark occasion that signalled a new phase of political mobilisation and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration was held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, with thousands of supporters drawn from the 44 Local Government Areas of the state and beyond.

According to Barau, the gathering demonstrated what he described as grassroots mobilisation, unity and strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator said he delivered a speech on behalf of the Senate at the event, where he commended Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, founder and convener of the TSG, while assuring him of the Senate’s maximum support.

Barau also praised Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for what he described as his efforts to attract prominent politicians from opposition parties into the APC.

He listed some of the opposition figures formally received into the APC during the event as Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, Hon. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, Senator Baraka Sani and Senator Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa, among others.

Barau said the politicians were accompanied by more than 100,000 of their supporters, describing the development as further evidence of the growing political strength of the APC in Kano.

Addressing Governor Yusuf, the Senate Deputy President said: “Mr Governor, we are proud of you. The Senate stands firmly behind you, and we shall continue to support your administration.”

He urged APC supporters to rally behind President Tinubu and work collectively towards securing his success in the 2027 elections.

Barau equally called on party supporters to support Governor Yusuf and all APC candidates as preparations intensify for the forthcoming elections.

He expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious, while praying for peaceful, successful and favourable elections.

Precise Post recalls that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Rabiu Kwankwaso was in Kano within the the week to mobilise the electorate ahead of the January general election.
