In a likely move for acceptance, endorsement and alignment ahead of the 2027 general election, the former governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke and their associates have paid a courtesy visited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The former Defence minister, who disclosed this in his X account on Saturday hinted that deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.

He also commended Obasanjo for his warm support and hospitality.

Precise Post recalls that Kwankwaso was the Minister of Defense from 2003 to 2007 during the administration of President Obasanjo.

Recall also that Kwankwaso served as the Governor of Kano State in two separate terms – First term: From May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2003 and Second term: From May 29, 2011, to May 29, 2015.

Aside from his tenure as governor, Kwankwaso has held several other notable political positions, including:

    1. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (1992-1993): He was elected as a member of the National Assembly and served as the Deputy Speaker during Nigeria’s short-lived Third Republic.
    2. Senator for Kano Central (2015-2019): After his second term as governor, Kwankwaso was elected as a Senator for Kano Central Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
    3. Presidential Candidate: In the 2019 general elections, Kwankwaso ran for president under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), although he was not successful in securing the presidency.

Kwankwaso is a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, known for his influence in Kano State and his leadership of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, which has a significant following in the region.

Similarly, Donald Duke served as the Governor of Cross River State from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007. During his two terms in office, he achieved several notable milestones that significantly impacted the state.
