The price of gold hit a new record Wednesday shortly after President Donald Trump’s announcement of sweeping new tariffs against most US trading partners.
Gold crossed the previous record at around 11:00 PM WAT and then continued to climb above $3,150 an ounce, as traders piled into the safe haven asset amid a steep decline in stock market futures.
