London, August 22, 2025 – Arsenal are on the brink of completing one of the standout transfers of the summer, with Eberechi Eze set to join the North London club from Crystal Palace in a £67.5 million deal, making him the third-most expensive signing in Arsenal’s history.
The 27-year-old England international is expected to undergo his medical today, with the deal structured as £60 million guaranteed plus £7.5 million in add-ons based on performance milestones.
Once finalized, only Declan Rice (£105m from West Ham in 2023) and Nicolas Pépé (£72m from Lille in 2019) will have cost Arsenal more than Eze. He moves ahead of Kai Havertz (£65m) and Viktor Gyökeres (£63.5m) in the club’s all-time top five.
This move is also a major coup over rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who had been closing in on Eze earlier this week. Arsenal matched Spurs’ offer late in the race, successfully persuading the midfielder to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium instead.
Fueling speculation, Eze was omitted from Crystal Palace’s squad for their Europa Conference League clash against Fredrikstad on Thursday night.
Former Arsenal legend Paul Merson hailed the signing as potentially decisive in the Premier League title race:
“Eze is a brilliant signing. He has the X-factor. In tight games, he can unlock low blocks—something Arsenal have struggled with. I think they’ll win the league with him,” Merson told Sky Sports.
If the transfer goes through as expected, it marks not just a high-profile addition but also a bold statement of intent from Mikel Arteta as Arsenal aim to end their 20-year title drought.
