The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, among other stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected in Plateau State on Saturday to receive bigwigs from major opposition parties in the state into the APC.
The APC, in a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Shittu Bamaiyi, said arrangements have been concluded for the grand reception of the defectors, adding that it would be an event to confirm the political dominance of the party in Plateau State.
“Due to the pedigree, integrity, and electoral value of the defectors, the Vice President, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, among other dignitaries, will grace the epoch-making event,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the APC’s National Chairman, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, who is regarded as the forerunner of the event, will lead members of the National Working Committee to the ceremony.
It further stated that the defectors, who are mostly from the PDP, Labour Party, and PRP, include former governorship candidates in the state, a senator, serving members of the National Assembly, and other political heavyweights.
Some of the political bigwigs to be received into the party include Senator Istifanus Gyang, Professor Patrick Dakum, Gyang Zi (SAN), Hon. Latep Dabang, and Hon. Bitrus Kaze, alongside many former political office holders, especially former members of the House of Representatives, Senate, House of Assembly, and local government chairmen.
