ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Minister of Education and co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has paid glowing tribute to elder statesman and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, as he marks his 93rd birthday.
In a heartfelt birthday message released on her X handle on Sunday, Ezekwesili described Chief Anyaoku as a rare symbol of uncommon grace, courage and principled leadership whose life of service continues to inspire generations within and beyond Nigeria.
She praised his outstanding contributions to the common good, noting that his commitment to excellence in public service and moral leadership has remained a guiding light for leaders and citizens alike.
“Your excellence in service to the common good, both in and out of public office, is a guiding light that inspires generations,” Ezekwesili said, emphasizing that Anyaoku’s legacy transcends positions held and is rooted in enduring values of integrity, discipline and selfless service.
The former vice president of the World Bank also offered prayers for the nonagenarian statesman, asking God to continually grant him peace, renewed strength, abiding joy and good health as he advances in age.
In a characteristically warm and optimistic tone, Ezekwesili expressed hope that Chief Anyaoku would continue to enjoy physical and mental vitality well into his centenary years, praying for “no feeble knees and no dim eyes” as he journeys toward his 100th birthday.
She further expressed deep gratitude for his lifelong dedication to humanity, describing him affectionately as “Uncle Emeka,” and underscored the enduring relevance of his example in a time when principled leadership is increasingly scarce.
