ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  President Bola Tinubu has congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in Saturday’s elections across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano State, and Rivers State, describing their mandates as a sacred trust from the people.

The elections, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), covered chairmanship and councillorship positions in the six area councils of the FCT, alongside by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, signed by the  Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the winners to approach their new responsibilities with humility, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to public service.

He emphasized that the confidence reposed in them by voters must be treated as a solemn obligation to deliver good governance.

President Tinubu commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the FCT, noting that the administration’s performance has translated into political gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also congratulated the national leadership of the APC, as well as the party’s structures in Kano and Rivers states, praising members for their efforts in securing victories at the polls.

The President lauded INEC, security agencies, and voters for ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process. He further commended all contestants for their courage and discipline, stressing that active participation and healthy competition remain the bedrock of a vibrant democracy.

According to the President, the successful conduct of the elections strengthens Nigeria’s democratic institutions and culture.

He therefore called on INEC to build on the progress recorded and continue striving for even more exemplary electoral processes in the future.
