ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in the forthcoming 2027 general election, Peter Obi, on Saturday embarked on a series of condolence visits to former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the family of the late Reverend Dr. William Okoye, and businessman Isaac Fayose, urging Nigerians to continue to show love, compassion and solidarity with those passing through moments of grief.
In a post shared on his X handle, Obi said the visits were aimed at identifying with the bereaved families and offering prayers for the peaceful repose of their departed loved ones.

The former Anambra State governor first visited Amaechi to commiserate with him over the death of his mother. Obi described the former Rivers State governor as a dear brother and prayed that Almighty God would grant the deceased eternal rest while giving Amaechi, his family and all those mourning her the strength and comfort to bear the irreparable loss.

Obi also paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Reverend Dr. William Okoye, whom he described as an elder brother and one of Nigeria’s most respected clergymen. He said the late cleric’s death was a significant loss not only to the Christian community but also to the nation and humanity at large.

According to Obi, Reverend Okoye devoted his life to faith, selfless service and the advancement of humanity, leaving behind a legacy of sacrifice, integrity and commitment to God’s work that would continue to inspire generations.

The former presidential candidate later visited businessman Isaac Fayose, who was also recently bereaved, to express his heartfelt condolences and reassure him of his solidarity during the difficult period.

Reflecting on the visits, Obi stressed that standing with one another in moments of sorrow remains one of the greatest demonstrations of humanity, empathy and love.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of all the departed souls and asked God to comfort every family currently mourning the loss of loved ones.
“In moments of grief, standing with one another is one of the greatest expressions of our shared humanity. I pray that Almighty God grants the departed eternal rest and comforts every family in mourning,” Obi stated.
Precise Post recalls that the condolence visits are consistent with Obi’s long-held message of compassion, unity and shared responsibility, as he continues to encourage Nigerians to support one another, especially during periods of personal loss and national challenges.
