Nomy, the recently disqualified housemate from the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) ‘Show Ya Sef’ season, says she was originally cast for the 2021 ‘Shine Ya Eye’ edition but was forced to withdraw after contracting COVID-19.
The revelation came to light during a private conversation with fellow housemate Tram, shortly before her disqualification on Monday.
She said the disappointment led to significant weight gain and a subsequent decision to undergo a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedure.
“I was supposed to be in the Angel set, but I had COVID. Other people had COVID, and they came back,” she said.
“So the pain was…it was like a double-edged dagger; it is the truth, and I got really sad. I started eating and gaining weight, and the only way was to, like, revamp myself. To make myself feel better, my sister was like, ‘You don’t need it.’ And I got on a plane, and I got myself a BBL.”
Nomy also revealed that an unidentified man financed the surgery, but she has not seen him since he paid.
“The guy that paid for the body, I haven’t seen him since he paid,” she said.
“He didn’t get to see it. He kept on messaging me, ‘So, I would not see this’ I said, ‘Okay, that am play.’ I am very mean when I need to be mean.”
Recounting her recovery, she noted that the procedure left her unable to sit for approximately three months.
“I did not sit down for three months. I was lying down. I used to kneel. If you want to sleep, you will sleep on your stomach, but to sit down, you will kneel instead. I did not sit for three months,” she said.
Her disqualification from the current season came after she received multiple strike warnings from Biggie for repeatedly defying house instructions.
The 2026 season premiered on July 26 with 24 housemates. The winner is expected to receive a record N160 million grand prize, the biggest payout in the reality show’s history.
