ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly debunked false media reports suggesting that the Federal High Court in Abuja, issued an order restraining Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from functioning as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the party, respectively.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday, the party clarified that no such order exists, and that the recent ruling by Justice Emeka Nwite on September 4, 2025, refused an ex-parte application filed by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is challenging the current leadership.
“Contrary to some misleading publications, the court did not issue any restraining order. The judge refused the ex-parte motion and instead directed that the case proceed with due process,” the statement reads.
Breakdown of the Court’s Four Orders:
1. The Plaintiff’s ex-parte application (filed on September 2, 2025) was refused.
2. The Plaintiff was directed to put the Defendants on notice.
3. The Defendants were ordered to appear and show cause why the application should not be granted.
4. The case was adjourned to September 15, 2025 for further hearing.
These details were confirmed in official court documents signed by Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite and certified by Kasope Kafayat Bola, Registrar of the Federal High Court.
The ADC condemned what it described as a deliberate campaign of misinformation by “political jobbers” who, having failed to stop INEC from recognizing the new leadership, are now “resorting to fake news and misrepresentation of court rulings.”
“These agents of destabilisation will stop at nothing in their desperate efforts to sow confusion and undermine opposition parties,” the party said.
The ADC called on members of the press and the general public to exercise caution and verify all information before accepting or spreading it, especially in light of what it sees as a broader strategy by the ruling party and its allies to create internal crises in opposition camps.
“This is a warning to all: we will not be distracted. Our leadership remains intact, and our focus on providing credible opposition and alternative governance continues,” the statement concluded.
Precise Post recalls that this is in reaction to some media reports alleging that a Federal High Court order removed Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from their positions in the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The claim is that the court restrained them from functioning as the party’s leadership.
