Russian leader Vladimir Putin is planning a trip to China, following hard on the heels of U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit, according to reports from Moscow.

Preparations for the visit have been finalised and agreed upon, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russian state news agency TASS on Friday.

There would be an official announcement “very, very soon” in consultation with Beijing, he explained, adding that Moscow did not want to rush things.

Earlier, the South China Morning Post had reported, citing unnamed sources, that the visit was scheduled for May 20.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry did not confirm the date when asked.
