Akpanudom gave the charge on Monday during the formation’s Lecture Parade held at the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi.

The AIG commended officers for their dedication, loyalty and commitment to the advancement of the Nigeria Police Force and praised sectional heads for providing effective leadership and operational supervision.
He reaffirmed the vision of the Inspector-General of Police for a professional, accountable and people-oriented police force, directing supervisory officers to prioritise the welfare of personnel, particularly officers who are ill or off duty.
Akpanudom warned officers against corruption, extortion, bribery and other unethical practices capable of tarnishing the image of the Force, stressing that misconduct in any form would not be tolerated.
He urged detectives to conduct investigations fairly, professionally and in strict compliance with the law, cautioning against unlawful arrests, unnecessary detention of suspect, indiscriminate transfer of case files and the criminalisation of civil disputes.
The AIG reminded investigators that their responsibility was to establish facts and not to act as judges, urging them to respect the fundamental rights of all citizens and ensure that investigations remained intelligence-led and evidence-based.
He also encouraged officers to maintain professionalism and courtesy in their interactions with members of the public, adhere strictly to the approved police dress code and project a positive image of the Force through exemplary conduct.
Akpanudom further stressed the importance of teamwork, effective case supervision and continuous capacity building, particularly in cybercrime investigation and digital policing.
He urged all personnel to remain disciplined, accountable and committed to excellence.
The police boss noted that professionalism and integrity were essential to effective justice delivery and the continued growth of the Nigeria Police Force. (NAN)
