ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  Former Minister of Transportation and ex–Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a scathing condemnation of the Federal Government’s handling of the spiraling insecurity that has gripped several parts of the country, accusing the administration of lacking the political will to protect Nigerians.

Amaechi who stated this on Wednesday when he took to his Facebook page, said the surge in killings, mass kidnappings and terrorist attacks across multiple states clearly shows the government has failed in its most fundamental duty of safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.

He cited a string of deadly incidents recorded within just one week namely: the persistent attacks on communities in Plateau State; the kidnapping of secondary schoolgirls in Kebbi; an ambush on soldiers in Borno State that led to the killing and abduction of Brigadier General M. Uba; an attack on a church in Kwara; and the abduction of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal, in Kaduna.

“These attacks are too many to ignore,” Amaechi warned, noting that government inaction has emboldened terrorists and eroded public confidence.

He called on the Federal Government to “step up its game” by strengthening military intelligence, sharpening tactical operations, and adopting a more strategic, decisive approach to combating terrorism nationwide.

In a direct message to President Tinubu, Amaechi said: “Your primary assignment is the security of lives and property. Enough of looking the other way or issuing watery statements of condemnation. Prioritizing a summit or jetting out when Nigerians are dying cannot be the trait of a good leader.”

He urged the President to probe failed decisions, enforce accountability, and take tough action to restore order.

Amaechi added that having successfully tackled similar security challenges in Rivers State, he and his team are ready to assist the Federal Government “if requested.”

Precise Post recalls that President Tinubu cancelled his trip to South Africa as a result of the increasing spate of insecurity in the country.
