ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –   Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the presidency under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), promising to restore national pride, unity and prosperity if elected.
Amaechi made the declaration on Thursday after submitting his presidential nomination forms at the ADC National Secretariat, describing his ambition as a mission to “salvage” Nigeria from its current challenges.
Speaking shortly after the submission on his X handle, the former minister and frontline contestant of the ADC presidential ticket said the country was in urgent need of purposeful leadership capable of rebuilding citizens’ confidence and restoring Nigeria’s respect in the international community.
According to him, his aspiration is driven by a commitment to fight for the dignity of Nigerians and reposition the nation for sustainable growth and development.
“Today, I submitted my Presidential nomination forms at the ADC Secretariat, officially throwing my hat in the ring to salvage our country, Nigeria,” Amaechi stated.
“The mission is clear, we will fight to restore dignity to Nigerians, make our country great and respected in the comity of nations, and bring unity, peace, prosperity and progress to our people,” he added.
Amaechi also called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and support the movement for national renewal, ending his remarks with the slogan, “Arise and Shine!”
Precise Post recalls that his declaration is expected to further shape the political landscape ahead of the next general election, as political parties continue consultations and strategic alignments.
Amaechi, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, previously served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State for two terms, and later Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari. He was also a presidential aspirant in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2023 elections.
Political observers believe his entry into the presidential race under the ADC platform could intensify political competition and attract fresh debates on governance, economic recovery and national unity.
