ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The newly appointed Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Nkiruka Anite, has officially begun her duties with a bold commitment to drive Nigeria toward a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Anite disclosed this on her X handle account following her first official meeting with the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Tuesday, marking the start of what
she described as “a new chapter” for the ministry.
Speaking during her assumption of office, the minister emphasized that achieving the country’s ambitious economic target would require a strong partnership between the government and the private sector. According to her, while the government is responsible for providing strategic direction and policy stability, the private sector must take the lead in driving growth.
She explained that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda places significant responsibility on entrepreneurs, innovators, and industry leaders, who she said would account for the bulk of the nation’s economic expansion efforts.
Anite further pledged to strengthen Nigeria’s budgeting framework and ensure that the 2026–2030 National Development Plan serves as a key driver of investment, improved security, and critical infrastructure development.
She also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in her new role, reaffirming her commitment to advancing the country’s economic priorities.
