Abuja (Precise Post) – The Paramount Ruler (Alake) of Egba Land, Oba Dr. Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has given his Royal Blessings to the Bigi Abeokuta Marathon scheduled to hold on Saturday.
Oba Dr. Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo gave his Royal Blessings when the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management, Hon Bukola Olopade led his team and journalists to the place of the ruler on Thursday.
Oba Gbadebo commended Olopade for promoting sports in Nigeria adding that the marathon will put Abeokuta on the globe.
He said, “Bukola Olopade has done a tremendous job with sports promotion in Nigeria, and I believe that what we are going to witness on Saturday will be bigger than what we saw two years ago”
“By the Grace of God, we will be at the venue on Saturday to be part of history created by Nilayo Sports Management Limited.”
Responding, the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management, Hon Bukola Olopade revealed that the Bigi Abeokuta Marathon is the first internationally approved race to the localiaed.
Hon Olopade said the blessings of the Alake of Egba Land is a sign that the marathon is already successful.
He said, “Your highness, the Bigi Abeokuta Marathon is the first Internationally approved race to be localised, all the ingredients of an international race will be put in place”
Meanwhile, the Chairman House Committee on Sports, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba will join top Ogun State government officials and the Alake of Egba Land, Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo to flag off the 2021 Bigi Abeokuta Marathon.
