ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and political economist, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has issued a stern life and leadership lesson, urging individuals to walk away from relationships, institutions, and alliances where there is a fundamental mismatch between stated intentions and actual conduct.
In a reflective message shared on social media on Saturday, Moghalu cautioned against being deceived by lofty rhetoric, stressing that actions remain the truest test of character and purpose.
He warned that good intentions should never trap people in situations where values, vision, and consciousness are clearly misaligned.
According to him, while it is natural to desire to help people or institutions rise to their full potential, such efforts often fail when the beneficiaries are comfortable remaining at a level that serves narrower or self-serving interests.
“Sometimes you want to help lift people or institutions up,” Moghalu noted, “but it also happens that they want to remain at a level that serves other purposes based on the level of their own consciousness.”
The former CBN deputy governor argued that it is neither arrogance nor selfishness to disengage from such situations, but rather an act of wisdom and self-preservation. He questioned the logic of exhausting oneself in attempts to liberate minds that are unwilling to be free.
“If their minds are not liberated, why should you kill yourself attempting to do so?” he asked pointedly.
To reinforce his position, Moghalu referenced the Bible, citing Matthew 7:6, which warns against offering what is sacred to those who neither value nor understand it. He emphasized that persistent engagement with unreceptive or hostile entities can ultimately lead to personal harm.
Observers say Moghalu’s message resonates strongly in Nigeria’s political, professional, and social spaces, where alliances are often sustained by sentiment rather than shared values or clear-eyed assessment of intentions.
Moghalu who did not make direct reference to the person(s) or institution(s) he is referring to, urged Nigerians to choose wisdom over emotional attachment and to recognize when it is time to move on from unproductive or damaging associations.
