Jalingo – Controversies have continued to trail the conduct of primary elections of the All Progressives Congress APC in Taraba state as the primary election for Senate and House of Representatives scheduled for Saturday could not hold and have been rescheduled for Sunday noon.

Dr Muhammad Alkali, Chairman of the Election Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for senate and house of representatives in Taraba disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the Taraba state Police Command Headquarters in Jalingo.

He said that the delay was due to unavailability of election materials and gave assurance that all the inadequacies would be addressed to ensure a successful conduct of the primaries in the state.

Alkali called on aspirants and their supporters to remain calm as the Committee would ensure transparency.

Our correspondent recalls that the four member Committee escaped being lynch by some APC supporters for what they suspected as a collusion between the Committee and a faction of the party.

It took the quick intervention of the police who rescue and took them into custody at the Command Headquarters in Jalingo Saturday evening.
