LAGOS ( PRECISE POST) – morning drive turned fatal at Cele inward Oshodi Tuesday when a commercial minibus collided with a Toyota Tundra pickup, killing the bus driver on the spot.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the multiple-vehicle crash involved a “Korokpe” minibus and a Toyota Tundra with plate number EPE 554 YC. Preliminary findings by security personnel at the scene showed the minibus driver suffered severe injuries and died instantly from the impact.
LASTMA officers on routine surveillance reached the site immediately to manage traffic, secure the area, and coordinate emergency response along the busy corridor, according to Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment, in a statement posted to the agency’s X handle late Tuesday.
The driver’s body was recovered and released to family members in the area.
To reopen the road and ensure public safety, LASTMA crews cleared the wreckage and handed all vehicles involved to the Nigeria Police Force. Police will conduct a full investigation to establish the cause of the crash and determine liability for any legal action.
Despite heavy disruption, LASTMA said swift deployment of its officers and traffic control measures restored movement along the route quickly.
The LASTMA General Manager extended condolences to the bereaved family and urged motorists, especially commercial drivers, to drive with greater caution, obey traffic laws, and prioritize road discipline at all times.
