ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday received a delegation from the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The EU delegation, led by Chief Observer Mr. Barry Andrews, paid the visit as part of a follow-up assessment on the implementation of recommendations made by the mission after Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.

Andrews, who is also a Member of the European Parliament, said the mission’s objective was to evaluate the progress made in electoral reforms since the last polls.

“We have noted significant improvements in several areas, though some challenges remain, particularly those requiring judicial and constitutional reforms,” he noted.

He praised INEC for its ongoing cooperation and commitment to strengthening democratic processes in Nigeria.

The visit underscores continued international interest in Nigeria’s democratic development and electoral integrity.
