ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo has highlighted five key takeaways from the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, identifying broad political consensus, disciplined campaigning, continuity in governance, women’s participation and youth development as major themes.

Nwabufo outlined the takeaways in a statement published on his X handle on Thursday, describing the inauguration held on Wednesday as a reflection of what he called the expansive and inclusive leadership style of President Tinubu.

In his assessment, the presidential aide said the event went beyond political mobilisation to underscore the need for cooperation across political divides, peaceful electoral competition and sustained attention to national development.

Broad political consensus
Nwabufo identified what he described as a broad consensus around Nigeria’s political future as the first major takeaway from the inauguration.
He argued that the convergence of political leaders from different platforms in support of Tinubu demonstrated the President’s capacity to attract support beyond the APC.

The aide cited Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s remarks at the event, in which he reportedly described the level of elite consensus surrounding the country’s political future as unprecedented in Nigeria’s history.

According to Nwabufo, Tinubu’s leadership style, policies and engagement with different interests have demonstrated an ability to bring Nigerians together in pursuit of national development.

Call for a disciplined campaign
The second takeaway, according to the presidential aide, was the emphasis on a disciplined, peaceful and issue-based campaign.

He cited APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who urged political actors to make the forthcoming election a contest of ideas, records and policies, conducted peacefully and with respect for Nigerians.

Nwabufo said the message established an appropriate standard for the campaign, stressing the importance of responsible political engagement rather than divisive rhetoric.

Tinubu to maintain focus on governance
The presidential aide also identified the continuation of governance during the campaign period as a significant commitment.

He noted that election campaigns in Nigeria often distract government institutions from their responsibilities, but argued that political mobilisation should not come at the expense of public service delivery.

According to him, Tinubu would remain focused on delivering results to Nigerians throughout the remainder of his current tenure, which runs until May 29, 2027.

Nwabufo described the commitment as a demonstration that the responsibilities of leadership to citizens must remain paramount, irrespective of electoral activities.

Women positioned as key campaign mobilisers
On women’s participation, Nwabufo highlighted their electoral significance and their representation in the Tinubu administration.
He stated that women account for more than 52 per cent of newly registered voters in Nigeria, describing them as a crucial constituency in electoral mobilisation.

The aide also referenced the appointment of women to ministerial and other strategic positions, as well as programmes such as the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up and the Renewed Hope Initiative, spearheaded by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

He further noted that the President pledged support for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill and acknowledged women’s contributions to the administration and its political activities.

Youth development remains a priority
The fifth takeaway was the recognition of young Nigerians as essential to the country’s development.
Nwabufo said Tinubu emphasised the importance of young people to Nigeria’s future, while other speakers, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, highlighted the implications of ongoing reforms for present and future generations.

The presidential aide maintained that youth participation and development remained important considerations in the country’s political and economic direction.

He concluded that the inauguration reflected the administration’s emphasis on political cooperation, peaceful campaigning, continuity in governance and the involvement of women and young people in national development.
