ROME- Four mountaineers died in the Italian Alps in separate accidents on Sunday, according to the mountain rescue service.
Their fatal falls occurred in the Veneto, Trentino and Piedmont regions in northern Italy. The deceased were reportedly three men and a woman.
Rescue teams deployed helicopters and multiple teams in the affected areas.
On Rocciamelone in the Piedmont region, a man fell more than 400 metres to his death. The rescue teams recovered his body after a complicated operation.
In the Trentino region, a 26-year-old man died when he lost his balance and fell about 30 metres into a ravine, landing in a riverbed.
In Veneto, a man fell into a crevice and in another incident, a woman fell while abseiling. (dpa/NAN)
