KATSINA (PRECISE POST) – Group under the auspices of “The Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria movement” in Katsina State has issued a fiery response to the recent exit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), declaring it a long-overdue step that opens the door to real reform within the troubled opposition party.
In a strongly worded statement released Thursday, spokesperson of the group, Abubakar Muktar accused Atiku of putting personal ambition above party unity and undermining the PDP’s credibility for nearly a decade.
“From 2015, when he joined forces against then-President Goodluck Jonathan, to 2023, when he shamelessly disregarded the party’s zoning principle, Atiku’s actions have consistently fractured internal cohesion,” Muktar said. “His departure is not a loss — it’s liberation.”
The statement took aim at Atiku’s failure to build the party despite holding high office. “Even as a former Vice President, Atiku never truly played a leadership role in strengthening the PDP. On the contrary, he has been a central figure in its decline,” Muktar charged.
The group lamented the irony that both the PDP’s presidential and vice presidential candidates from the 2023 elections have now left the party, describing it as a “shameful indictment” of their commitment to its ideals.
But with Atiku now out of the picture, Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria sees a chance for rebirth.
“We call on young Nigerians, especially loyal PDP members, to rise and take back the party,” Muktar said. “It’s time to rebuild from within and create a truly national platform driven by ideas not egos.”
The group also praised PDP governors who rejected Atiku’s latest coalition push, calling their stance “a bold rejection of personal politics in favor of party integrity.”
Concluding with a rallying cry, Muktar declared: “Let it be clear: the PDP belongs to the people not to any one man. If we are serious about building a better Nigeria, fixing the PDP is where we start.”
