A major fire incident broke out on Thursday near a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) station in the Badia Railway area of Apapa, Lagos State, triggering panic among residents and traders.
The fire reportedly ignited around 12:35 PM near the popular Plank Market, situated directly behind the LPG facility, according to The Whistler.
Confirming the incident via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) stated that emergency services, including firefighters, are currently on-site conducting rescue and containment operations.
“Report of a fire outbreak at Badia Railway, near the Plank Market, behind the LPG gas station,” the agency posted.
“Firefighters and other emergency responders are already on the scene carrying out rescue operations.
Our personnel are also on ground to manage and facilitate traffic flow around the affected area.”
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the fire or report any casualties, but safety measures are being actively enforced as the situation develops.
