Kwara State, Nigeria – The Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) University, a newly licensed private institution located in Kwara State, is gearing up to commence full academic activities in 2026.
The Founder of the Love of Christ Church, Lagos, and Chairperson of the C&S Centenary Anniversary Steering Committee, Rev. Esther Ajayi, revealed that the project is already 80% complete.
Speaking at the Cherubim and Seraphim Centenary Lecture in Lagos on Monday, September 1, 2025, Rev. Ajayi described the university as a milestone achievement for the church, adding that it will play a crucial role in moulding the character of future leaders.
A Vision Beyond Education
Rev. Ajayi explained that the C&S University is not just an academic institution but also a platform to instill values, promote morality, and groom leaders who can drive societal transformation.
“The church is setting up institutions and structures to advance its bridge-building role in the world. A renewed C&S inspires this generation and the global community to rediscover its roots and embrace true human service,” she said.
She further emphasized that the university will serve as a buffer against moral decline and provide value-based education that empowers young people to take the gospel and positive influence across Africa, Europe, and beyond.
Linking Faith, Education, and Global Impact
Ajayi noted that schools remain vital training grounds for future evangelists, innovators, and leaders who can rescue humanity from growing anomalies threatening global peace and values.
Context: Private Universities on the Rise
The development comes as Nigeria continues to witness a surge in the establishment of private universities. In August 2025, the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, approved nine new private universities across the country to expand access to quality higher education.
Similarly, Osun State recently saw the foundation-laying of Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence University — Curators University in Modakeke, founded by Olusola Amusan, with Governor Ademola Adeleke emphasizing the importance of AI in shaping the future of education.

With academic operations scheduled to begin in 2026, Cherubim and Seraphim University is expected to attract students nationwide and globally, positioning itself as a hub for both academic excellence and moral leadership.
