Nigeria Handball international player, Ibrahim Olarewaju Dikko, league champion with Kano Pillars, signed for Adidja HB handball club of Benin Republic and also won the Bèninoise league with them.
Currently, Ibrahim Dikko is in national camp preparing for the handball Nations Cup which will take place in Egypt in January 2024.
Prgecisepost.ng and joansportsbliss caught up with the player maker and he had a lot to say about the Benin republic handball league and Nigeria league. He also talked about the reasons he left and his hope of playing in the nations cup. Experts:
Precisepost : Welcome back home Ibrahim. Congratulations on winning the league? How do you feel about it?
Dikko: We won the league due to the spirited team efforts. They won it last season. I joined them and we still win. It is an addition to me. And I am glad about it.
Precisepost. There seems to be much influx of Nigeria players into Benin league. What prompted this?
Dikko: You know when you eat too much rice and you feel you are tired of eating rice. So you decide to change and taste another food. That what prompted it. I went to Benin republic gain more experience to add to the one I have already. Is not that it is better than Nigeria league. They are some how similar. No difference
But in terms of rumeration and welfare package, Benin is more better. The difference Is that they play their league in three stages. But in Adova league you play eleven matches straight. It is an interesting league. I miss the league.
Presisepost: Second time you made it to the national team camp. Are you optimistic that you will make the team to Egypt this time?
Dikko. I don’t know. But I am positive that I will make it this time around. The level of preparation is high.
We have new young bloods who are ready to play and fight and with the addition of foreign players. We are optimistic that we rigour this out and give a good outing in Egypt.
Presisepost.ng: Thank you for your time.
Dikko: Thank you
