According to the report from the Sun on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Nze Chidi Duru, Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has highlighted recent statements by billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote regarding the anticipated strengthening of the Nigerian Naira against the US Dollar.

Speaking on the matter, the APC official noted that Dangote has publicly advised Nigerians currently holding dollars to consider selling them, positioning the Naira as the preferred currency to hold in the coming period. Duru emphasized that according to the business mogul, even he would liquidate any dollar holdings in the market due to expectations of continued Naira appreciation in the days ahead.

The party official framed these developments within the context of current government economic policies, describing them as deliberate strategies designed to strengthen the national currency. He expressed confidence that once the administration’s fiscal and monetary policies fully take effect and begin functioning as intended, Nigerians will witness tangible positive impacts on the economy.

Duru assured Nigerians that the strengthening of the Naira is not a matter of speculation but a certain outcome of the policy framework currently being implemented by the government. He expressed unwavering optimism about the trajectory of the currency and the broader economic reforms underway.

He said, “Aliko Dangote has even echoed it by advising Nigerians who have Dollars today to sell them. The money to have is Naira. If he has any dollars today, he will sell them in the market because the Naira will continue to strengthen against the Dollar in the next few days. That is the policy at play, the assurances that are given to Nigeria that the moment it begins to work, the moment the policies of the government, the physical and monetary policy, the moment this begins to happen, we will begin to see the impact. No doubt about it.”

The statement comes amid ongoing debates about Nigeria’s economic direction and the effectiveness of current monetary policies in stabilizing the national currency.
