ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stepped up efforts to ensure a smooth and inclusive Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Anambra State, with a top-level inspection tour led by National Commissioner, Dr. Ukeagu Kenneth Nnamdi.
The CVR exercise, which began on July 8 and runs through July 17, 2025, aims to capture a broad category of eligible Nigerians, including:
First-time voters (aged 18 and above)
Citizens seeking replacements for lost or damaged Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs)
Voters requesting transfers to new polling units
Individuals updating their personal details such as name or address
Persons correcting errors on their PVCs
Dr. Ukeagu, accompanied by the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, and key departmental heads from the state INEC office, toured multiple registration centers to assess the progress of the exercise. The team interacted with both registrants and INEC staff, offering assurances of the commission’s commitment to an inclusive and transparent electoral process.
“This exercise is critical to strengthening our democratic process. We urge every eligible citizen, especially young people and new adults, to seize this opportunity,” Dr. Ukeagu told registrants during the visit.
Mrs. Agwu reaffirmed that logistics and personnel had been adequately deployed across the state to ensure a smooth operation. She also called on traditional and community leaders to encourage their constituents to register before the July 17 deadline.
The CVR initiative is part of INEC’s broader strategy to update the national voter register and increase civic participation ahead of the 2025 general elections. Residents are encouraged to visit designated registration centers in their local government areas.
