In a statement issued in Jalingo Thursday evening following the election of the new Pope in the Vatican, the SA Media and Digital communication to the governor Hon. Emmanuel Bello said that the quick and peaceful conduct of the Conclave is something the political class around the world need to learn from.
“Taraba State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas heartily felicitates with the Catholic community in Taraba State, Nigeria, and indeed, all over the world over the successful election of the 267th Pope of the Church.
“Pope Leo XIV (Robert Cardinal Francis Prevost) is widely known for his firm stands in support of social justice and true virtues that make his emergence a pleasant surprise.
“His Excellency commends the peaceful and quick conduct of the Conclave that led to the emergence of the new Pope in less than two days. Dr. Kefas prays that the political class all over the world takes a cue from the Conclave experience for its transparency and seriousness.
The Governor describes the Pope as a leader, not just for the Catholic Church or Christians, but indeed, people of all faiths. “I understand his papacy will be a tough one considering contemporary realities. We would continue to pray that Pope Leo XIV works to unite our fragile world and bridge the ever widening divisions in our world” he added.
Pope Leo XIV is the first Pope from the United States of America.
