LAGOS- A Non-Governmental Organisation, Women on Mission for Peace and Humanity, has commended the Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku, for his outstanding achievements in office.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Bola Tinubu on Aug. 29, 2023  approved the appointment of Dr Samuel Ogbuku from Bayelsa as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the commission.
In a statement on Tuesday in Lagos, the Founder of the NGO, Mrs Kelechi Esimogu, described Ogbuku, who recently turned 50, as a leader who exemplified a rare blend of vision, integrity, and action.
Esimogu noted that beyond physical infrastructure, Ogbuku had rebuilt public trust in the NDDC through far-reaching reforms.
The founder said these reforms were the restructuring of the commission into 13 statutory directorates and adopting digital procurement protocols to enhance transparency.
She praised Ogbuku for his legacy of electrification and infrastructural development, adding that under his leadership, the Niger Delta had witnessed an unprecedented rollout of critical projects.
Esimogu highlighted some of these projects as Ogbia–Nembe Road in Bayelsa , a 27.5km lifeline with seven bridges and 50 culverts, connecting 14 previously isolated communities.
She said: “The NDDC under his leadership has now been repositioned as “a credible vehicle for development rather than controversy.
“These projects are the Areko-Atabrikang–Akata–Opulom; Ikot Inwang–Okoroutip–Iwochang Road (6km) and the Ibeno Bridge (600m) in Akwa Ibom, boosting trade and social integration.
“Others include Obehie–Oke Ikpe Road (9km) in Ukwa West, Abia State, providing long-awaited access to neglected communities.”
Esimogu commended him for his electrification projects, including a 45km double circuit feeder line from Omotosho Power Station and a 15MVA substation in Edo, powering towns and industries.
“These are not just roads and wires, they are veins of progress, carrying hope, commerce, and opportunity across the Niger Delta,” she said.
Esimogu said: “On behalf of the good people of the Niger Delta, I thank  Ogbuku for his foresight, his tireless service.”
She reminded the people that public office could indeed be a platform for public good.
“I pray that as he marks this golden milestone, may the years ahead grant him wisdom, health, and the strength to steer the Niger Delta towards even greater heights of development and peace”. (NAN)
