Obidient Movement Bigger Than Datti-Ahmed, Personal Ambitions – National Coordinator

ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –   The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Moses Paul, has called for unity, mutual respect and discipline among supporters of the movement amid growing reactions to comments by former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Paul, who made the appeal in a statement on Monday, was reacting to Datti-Ahmed’s remarks on Instablog9ja, where he reportedly complained that Obidients were always eager to attack him, adding that he had more damaging revelations to make.
The Obidient leader urged members and supporters to avoid unnecessary hostility, stressing that political disagreements should not destroy relationships or undermine the collective aspiration that brought the movement together.
He described the Obidient Movement as a family united by a common desire for good governance, accountability, competence, security, quality education, economic opportunities and the dignity of Nigerians.
According to him, the movement’s decision to rally behind former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, is a conscious political choice based on the belief that he represents the competence, character, compassion and leadership values Nigerians deserve.
Paul noted that other opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, equally deserved respect and recognition for their individual contributions to Nigeria’s political development.
He maintained that individuals who had moved to other political platforms were entitled to their political choices and should neither be vilified nor treated as enemies for exercising their rights.
“Nobody should be vilified, insulted or treated as an enemy for exercising that right,” he said.
The National Coordinator, however, warned against what he described as the infiltration of the movement by individuals who allegedly disguise themselves as genuine supporters to spread misinformation, provoke controversies and create divisions.
He cautioned that not everyone claiming to be an Obidient necessarily represented the movement, insisting that individuals should not be allowed to use its name to promote personal interests or manufacture divisive narratives.
“We must be discerning. Not everyone who claims to be an Obidient represents the movement, and not everyone who invokes our name speaks for us,” Paul stated.
He added that while disagreements were inevitable in every political family, such differences should not become excuses for hostility, suspicion or the destruction of relationships.
Paul further clarified that support for Peter Obi should not be interpreted as a licence to disrespect other political actors or abandon the principles upon which the movement was founded.
“The Obidient Movement is bigger than individuals, social media conversations, personal ambitions and temporary political disagreements,” he declared.
He urged members to remain focused on organising, mobilising and enlightening Nigerians, while protecting the integrity of the movement against divisive tendencies.
Calling for restraint and renewed commitment to the movement’s objectives, Paul said members must learn to disagree without destroying one another or allowing external interests to derail their collective mission.
He concluded with the declaration: “Mr. Peter Obi is coming, and a New Nigeria is POssible!”
