ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Businessman and public affairs commentator, Atedo Peterside, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release the results from the remaining 151 polling units in the Osun State governorship election.
Peterside made the call in a post on his X handle on Sunday, commending INEC for releasing results from 3,612 polling units, representing 95.99 per cent of the results, by about 2am.
He, however, urged the electoral commission to publish the outstanding results, stressing that Nigerians were still monitoring the process.
“Dear @inecnigeria, thank you for releasing the results from 3,612 Polling Units in the #Osun Governorship Elections, i.e. 95.99% of the results by 2am approx. Please release the results of the remaining 151 Polling Units. We are still watching,” Peterside wrote.
He also questioned the prolonged delay in completing the collation and uploading of the remaining results.
According to him, INEC owes Nigerians an explanation as to why the final 13 per cent of the results took significantly longer to collate than the first 87 per cent.
“We also believe you owe the nation an explanation as to why it took you longer to collate the last 13% of the results than it took to collate the first 87%,” he said.
Peterside asked whether the delay was caused by a technical problem, querying: “Was there a ‘glitch’?”
