Abuja (Precise Post) – As politicians align and realign ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has been spitting fire over the rumour making rounds that former President Goodluck Jonathan is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Jonathan was a sitting president under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) who was defeated by President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 general election.
Amid speculations that former President President Goodluck Jonathan may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike said, he will not get his support.
He vowed to forsake Jonathan if he defects to APC.
“Jonathan would not enjoy my support if he eventually dumps the PDP to join APC to contest the 2023 Presidential election.”
Wike made the vow while speaking with BBC Pidgin, saying that the former president would enjoy his maximum support if he contests the 2023 presidency under the PDP.
Political pundits are of the opinion that former President Jonathan must have concluded plans to move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as some of his inner caucus kitchen cabinet have moved ahead of him. Such political friends are Senator Stella Oduah and Femi Fani-Kayode.
Recall that Fani-Kayode had shortly after his defection hinted that he was instrumental to to the earlier defection of Governors David Umahi of Ebonyi State and Matawalle of Zamfara state. He also hinted that Governor Bello of Bauchi who is a close friend of Jonathan and his counterpart from Enugu State will soon dump the PDP and pitch tent with the APC.
However, Wike and Jonathan’s aide on social media, Reno Omokri have come out openly to berate the moving insisting that it would be a deadly political decision that they will not be part of.
