Abuja (Precise Post) – Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday ordered the release of Majority Chief Whip Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, from prison.
Kalu was to serve 12 years in prison after he was convicted of N7.1bn fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance at the Abia State Government House, Jones Udeogu.
Senator Orji Kalu has been in prison since December 2019.
Precise Post recalls that the order of the court to federal government to release Senator Orji Kalu is coming at a time protesters from Abia north senatorial zone stormed the National Assembly calling on the Senate President Ahmed Lawan to declare his seat vacant.
